Policies
At Lindwedel Jewelers, we stand behind the quality of our jewelry and repair work. We guarantee that all pieces purchased from our store will be secure through normal wear and free from accent stone loss for one year from the date of purchase. Similarly, we guarantee the integrity of our repair work against normal everyday wear for one year from completion, applicable only to the specific repairs detailed on your receipt. Please note that we cannot guarantee the integrity of any stones larger than 0.10 CT, so we highly recommend insuring pieces if you deem necessary. While we take great care in crafting and repairing jewelry and anticipate our pieces and workmanship to last, we cannot guarantee their condition beyond one year due to unforeseen incidents and the buildup of natural wear from everyday use. Please note that our guarantee covers damage caused by normal, everyday wear and tear, and does not apply to clear incidents of damage.
Unless otherwise specified below, your purchase may be returned for a full refund or exchanged for store credit within 10 business days from the original purchase date. Please note if the original purchase was paid for via a credit or debit card, the purchasing card must be used at the point of return as we do not save card information. After this initial 10-day period, you may exchange your purchase for store credit for an additional 10 business days. Please note that this policy may be subject to extension which will be communicated at the time of purchase. After this period, all sales will be final. To be eligible for a return or exchange, all items must be unused, unworn, and in their original condition, including the original packaging. Please note that sales of closeout items, special orders, modified, altered, personalized, or custom pieces are final. All sales of items containing laboratory-grown/synthetic or simulant/imitation stones are final. All completed layaways sales are final, and all payments made on canceled or delinquent layaways will be converted to store credit.
A special order is any jewelry, gemstone, watch, or gift item ordered at the customer's request as it is not in inventory. Special order items may or may not be eligible for customer review prior to purchase. Ineligible items for review—such as, but not limited to made-to-order, personalized, altered/modified, or custom pieces—require a 25% non-refundable deposit. Deposit information for special orders containing laboratory-grown/synthetic or simulant/imitation stones can be seen below. All process details will be shared with the customer prior to ordering. Regardless of review eligibility, all completed sales of special orders are final.
Custom work refers to any piece specifically created at the request of a customer, including alterations, modifications, personalization, or engraving on existing items. All custom work requires a 25% non-refundable deposit to initiate the process. We will communicate and document all details prior to your confirmation to proceed. As jewelry is often handmade, please be aware that there may be slight discrepancies from the initial design. However, we will make every effort to exceed your expectations. Once the piece is complete, full payment will denote your complete satisfaction. If any minor adjustments are needed, such as ring resizing, we will gladly accommodate those requests. All guarantees detailed below apply to custom work. Please note that all sales of custom work are final. For deposit information regarding special orders containing laboratory-grown/synthetic or simulant/imitation stones, please refer to the section below.
Lindwedel Jewelers offers a 120-day interest-free layaway plan, requiring an initial minimum non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total balance, followed by three consecutive monthly non-refundable payments of 25% of the remaining balance. Cancelled or delinquent layaways are subject to termination. All payments made will be converted to store credit and are non-refundable. All completed layaway sales are final. Please note that closeout items, special orders, and custom pieces are not eligible for layaway. Any requested alterations or modifications will be made after the final payment is received.
At Lindwedel Jewelers, we offer jewelry appraisal services. All items sold for over $1,500 will automatically receive an appraisal. For items valued under $1,500, appraisals can be performed upon request. We recommend confirming your insurance provider's requirements and limits for these appraisals. For most appraisals, we do not unmount any stones and identify weights based on hand/scale measurements. We determine color and clarity characteristics through careful evaluation. Using this information, along with current market prices and our professional expertise, we assess the retail replacement value of the piece. Please note that this evaluation reflects our store's opinion of the retail replacement value for the piece and does not guarantee immediate liquidation or fair market value. The markets for precious stones and metals can change rapidly, so we encourage you to revisit your appraisals every three years to ensure adequate coverage. For laboratory-grown or synthetic items, please be aware that their value is assessed based on the current market prices on the date of appraisal, which may decrease over time. By purchasing or requesting an appraisal for a piece with laboratory-grown/synthetic stones, the customer accepts the risk of depreciation and understands their characteristics.
We highly recommend insuring all jewelry pieces that you deem necessary to ensure proper coverage against loss, theft, or damage. Once an item is purchased, the responsibility for its care and protection rests solely with the customer. Having insurance is essential for safeguarding your piece as our guarantee is not lifetime neither all-encompassing. We encourage you to consult with your insurance provider to explore coverage options tailored to your specific pieces.
Laboratory grown or synthetic stones are created in controlled environments using advanced technology to replicate the natural formation processes. These stones possess similar physical, chemical, and optical properties as their natural counterparts but are not mined from the earth. Simulant or imitation stones are materials designed to look like genuine gemstones but do not possess the same properties. Please note that pieces containing these stones are only available by the special request of the customer and require a 35% non-refundable deposit. All sales of laboratory grown/synthetic and simulant/imitation stones are non-exchangeable and non-refundable; all sales are final with no potential for upgrade. Customers acknowledge that the value of laboratory grown/synthetic stones can decrease from the original purchase price. By proceeding with the purchase, the customer accepts the risk of value depreciation.
We are pleased to offer a natural diamond upgrade and natural diamond stud earring upgrade option to all customers. If you purchase a natural diamond or natural diamond stud earrings from Lindwedel Jewelers, you can apply the before-tax value of your original purchase toward an upgrade to a higher-value option, provided the original item is returned in its original condition. For natural diamond upgrades, please note that the before-tax value of the original purchase can only be applied toward a higher-value natural diamond; mountings or mounting modification/adjustments are excluded from this program.
We are happy to check and clean your jewelry for free. We recommend having your jewelry—especially high-contact pieces—inspected every three months. This inspection assesses the current state of the piece, and if satisfactory, it should withstand normal everyday wear until the next inspection. However, we cannot guarantee this due to unforeseen incidents. If we identify any issues during the inspection, we will provide maintenance recommendations. It is up to the customer to decide whether to proceed. Please note that our complimentary cleaning does not include polishing, buffing, or rhodium plating. We do offer these services for a fee.
Most white gold pieces are rhodium finished. This is not a permanent treatment.
